Marge Hermans Osborn, Juneau

Marge Hermans grew up in Massachusetts and came to Alaska in 1974, following her dream of living a self-reliant lifestyle in the grandeur and beauty of The Last Frontier. She has been writing about Alaska for more than 20 years, often joining with teachers, geographers, biologists, and others to bring the excitement of Alaska and its natural world alive for students and adults.

Marge and Juneau author and photographer Bob Armstrong have published three books celebrating nature in Alaska: Southeast Alaska's Natural World, Along the Mt. Roberts Trail, and Alaska's Natural Wonders. She also worked with University of Alaska geographer Roger W. Pearson and teachers from across the state to produce two Alaska geography books, including Alaska in Maps: A Thematic Atlas.
