Palmer, Ginny (Foundation for End of Life Care)

Ginny Palmer

Ginny is a retired research associate and management analyst. She moved to Alaska 1966. She lived in Tanzania when her husband was the director of the Peace Corps and afterwards lived in Costa Rica for about five years where she taught English as a second language to village children. She was a caregiver for her husband when he developed Alzheimer’s disease. Her husband died in 2004 and she realized that there are many people who are unprepared when a loved one dies, so she wrote the guidebook, “ When you’re not here…a guide for helping those you love.”  The Foundation for End of Life Care helped her do research and publish the book through grants from Rasmuson Foundation, Pioneers of Alaska Igloo #6, Senior Citizens Support Services, Inc. and Southeast Alaska Estate Planning Council.
