Ed Ferrell was born on a Missouri farm during the depression. His years in Arizona greatly influenced his life as he read books on western history and various adventure accounts. In the summer of '47, he and a friend drove to Seattle to head to the "Last Frontier." Except for "outside" schooling, he has lived in Alaska ever since. He has published Biographies of Alaska Yukon-Pioneers (4-volumes), Strange Stories of Alaska and the Yukon, The Dangerous North, and Frontier Justice.
